Our story

A dream taking shape

We are Lidia and Giorgio, and speaking about this project means speaking about us. The first time we came across this courtyard was in the early 2000s: it felt as if it chose us before we chose it. Its timeless charm, the light that fills it at every hour of the day, shifting with every moment, the thick walls carrying voices and stories — it was love at first sight. We knew right away it would be the place where we would build our family.

We began the first renovation works not out of necessity, but from a desire to bring life back to a place that still held so much within it. Once completed, we lived here happily, proud of what it had become.

But it wasn’t enough.

A new beginning

We wanted to create a place that could offer calm and authenticity, a place where guests wouldn’t feel like passing through, but gently welcomed into a corner of home, without being at home.

We both had well-established and fulfilling careers, so it was understandable that our project raised some doubts among friends and family. The work involved, the commitment to manage it, the need to be ready for anything at any time, even our age — all fair concerns, born out of care. And yet, they had the opposite effect: they strengthened our resolve. It was a dream we had carried for a long time; we just needed the right moment. We are so deeply connected to this place that we told ourselves, “it’s time to give new life — to the courtyard, and to ourselves.”

And so we began.

Welcoming as a way of life

We personally oversaw every step of the work. Everything was carefully chosen and thoughtfully arranged to preserve the soul of the courtyard, blending the beauty of its past with modern comfort. We did our best to respect the original spaces, while bringing them back to life — to the brightness of their early days, to the sense of wonder they once offered.

This story has no ending, because it has just begun. Each guest who chooses to stay here becomes part of it. Our doors are open to anyone looking not for a simple guest house, but for a home — alive, welcoming, human, and restful.

We live here too. Guests are part of our daily life, and are treated with the same care and attention we would offer anyone sharing our home.

We hope that when your stay comes to an end, you’ll leave feeling renewed, happy with the time spent here, and with one simple thought:
